Tada Kimi O Aishiteru - Japan Movie

Based on the novel Renai Shashin: Mo Hitotsu no Monogatari by Ichikawa Takuji, who also wrote the bestselling novel Ima, Ai Ni Yukimasu (Be With You), which churned into a massive hit movie of the same romance drama genre. Starring Miyazaki Aoi (Nana) and Tamaki Hiroshi (Nodame Cantabile), the acting is first rate, especially Aoi, excellently portraying a geeky and shy, rather mysterious girl, who lacks self confidence but is cute and amazingly pure at heart. In a way, I'm glad Aoi turned down Nana 2 to shoot Tada Kimi, or else the movie would not have become as superb is it is. Tada Kimi tells the junai (true love) story of 2 uni students from the monent they meet til the day they kiss, and then finally part. The forest where they develop their photography skills and relationship is as enchanting as what the English title of this movie suggests, Heavenly Forest. Despite its bittersweet love story, rest assured the ending is a well satisfying one. I had to become sappy when he finally sees a pic of his long lost beloved at the NYC gallery towards the end, whilst she narrates one of her final letters to him in the scene's background. Oh so touching, oh so memorable. The score is great, especially the gentle yet strong new age style instrumental with piano ensemble playing at the NYC gallery, which partly acted as cataylst to my cries. The scenery and cinematography, as it is usually the case of jmovies, is very beautiful and skilfully rendered. This movie made me luv Hiroshi that led me watching his other wonderful performance in the award winning jdorama Nodame Cantabile, which combines romance, comedy and musical genres. Of course I also dived into Ima Ai Ni Yukimasu but contradicting to its rave reviews, Ima's a little too draggy or rather artistic for my liking. The japanese title if literally translated is Just, Loving You. It sounds like the average fluffy love story but in fact the movie presents a strong plot with a slight twist at the end, delivered by stellar leads. If you only have time to watch 1 jmovie then Tada, Kimi Wo Aishiteru is it. Please watch Now........Enjoyyyyyy!
